The Pali Highway will be completely closed this weekend, going in both directions, starting at 8:00pm Friday, March 11th, all the way through 3:00am on Monday, March 14th. The closure is due to the rockfall and minor landslide from the heavy rain that has caused rocks and debris to fall into the traffic lanes causing unsafe conditions. The Pali Highway will be closed from Waokanaka St through to Castle Junction, therefore if you are traveling to or from Kailua / Town this weekend, I would suggest taking the Like Like route or around the Hawaii Kai way depending on where you are headed.

Also, Kailua bound lanes, meaning the lanes when you are going into Kailua, will be closed next week from Monday, March 14th to Friday, March 18th from 8:30am to 2:30pm for the completion of the clean up.

The Department of Transportation apologizes for the inconvenience but states however that the public’s safety comes first.
